Recycling and Green Programs
Guayakí recycles all office and scrap paper, cardboard, cans, bottles, and plastic in the blue bin. We salvage and recycle any metal or wood waste; as well as obsolete or unusable electronic and computer components to prevent adding heavy metals to landfills.
In our office, we “recycle, reduce, and re-use” as a daily practice. Real dishes and cups (and gourds) are washed rather than using paper or plastic. Our Mate Café composts about 22 pounds of green waste per week which supplements our Oasis garden bed.
A few times a year, we compost our spent mate to further boost our garden and most recently donated organic material for local composting projects at Sonoma County farms.
We purchase energy credits from Green Mountain Energy to support 100% local renewable solar power and our office electricity is supplied exclusively by Sonoma Clean Power (local geothermal energy).
Guayaki’s efforts have garnered several Socially Responsible and Green Business awards. We also maintain Certified IMO Fair for Life, Fair Trade Federation, USDA Organic, CCOF Organic, Kosher, and Non-GMO Project certifications. We are members of the American Herbal Products Association and a Certified B Corporation.
