Care for the Community

Recology improves the communities we serve through resource recovery education and community outreach. We also have a Volunteer Program where we unite as a team to give back to the communities where we operate. Our projects have included providing food service to the homeless; using recycled paint and reclaimed resources to beatify a child care center, shelter for recovering addicts, county fairground, and multi-generational community center and neighborhood; landscaping the exterior of an inner-city youth club; community park and “Recologizing” an award-winning rose garden that had been overtaken by decades of neglect. By partnering with other organizations and community members we can fully carry out our purpose of educating and interacting with community members while building positive relationships with organizations with similar goals.

In addition to our company-wide volunteer program, each subsidiary is active in participating and giving back to our communities. We believe that giving back to others is an excellent way for employees to enhance their personal growth. In addition, the volunteer activities assist in our employees challenging and developing their skills. For example, at our last company-wide volunteer event at the Depot Family Crisis Center (a drug treatment facility for men, women, and families) in Marysville, an Operations Manager from our Auburn facility volunteered to be the project manager and coordinated the entire event. In addition, a maintenance employee used his artistic skills to help brighten the facility and inspire the residents.
